Move iTunes Library out of My Documents - Windows

iTunes default storage location is under My Documents.

This causes a problem because storing personal media here will also be stored on TWU servers, and backed up on TWU backup servers.

There is a large amount of data being stored identified as iTunes on TWU servers. This document will explain how to move your library into the root directory C:\Users

Identify iTunes Data

  1. Open My Documents and browse to My Music

  2. Locate the iTunes folder. Right click to view properties. This will show you how much storage iTunes is using.

Move iTunes Library

  1. Open iTunes
  2. On the toolbar at the top, click on Edit, then click Preferences

  3. Click on Advanced.

  4. You will see the iTunes Media folder location is currently in \\nassrv2 (TWU servers)
  5. Change the iTunes Media folder location to C:\Users\your-account-name and click select folder.
