Back up Policies

TWIT enterprise backup strategy follows the rule of 3.

We always have copies of data in 3 locations for a specified amount of time.

TWU Issued Windows computer

Your personal TWU issued computer's Document Library is set to synchronize (backup) with 1 of 2 methods:

  1. MyDocs sync to a TWU server automatically when connected to TWU network (old method)
  2. OneDrive sync to cloud server when online (all new computers are set this way)

Access to TWU issued computers is controlled by a TWU account (@twu.ca email) [Active Directory]

Errors should be investigated to ensure proper synchronization.

What is not backed up?

  • Computer settings
  • Bookmarks
  • Desktop file & folders
  • Non TWU email
  • Installed software
  • Sticky notes
  • Files outside of Document Library

TWU Issued Apple computer

No backups are performed of any kind

Access to TWU issued computers is controlled by a TWU account (eamil) [Active Directory]

We recommend getting an external drive if you have data you would like to keep on your computer, then set up Time Machine (I.T. can help)

*Nothing is backed up that is stored locally on a Mac
